New England coaching news and rumors…..

Word is that former NBA player Tod Murphy will be named as the next head coach at DIII Gordon College. Murphy played for 4 teams in 5 NBA seasons in the early 90’s. he was most recently an assistant at DI Cal Irvine (his alma mater).

Speaking of DIII jobs in New England, I’ve heard that former Eastern Nazarene coach Jon Yeh is returning to Grace College to become an assistant. He spent 7 seasons there before coming east. Like Gordon, Eastern Nazarene will hire someone affiliated with the church.

I still think that the Holy Cross job is Tom Herrion’s to lose, but a few more other names have surfaced. Former BC and Ohio State head coach Jim O’Brien would be an interesting choice. He has local ties, taken a team to the Final Four, and has coached at a Jesuit school in the past (BC). Another name that has popped up is Kansas assistant Joe Dooley. He is from the east coast (NJ) and developed into a big-time recruiter while at Kansas. I guess you can add these guys to my original list:
