New Mexico State Chancellor Dan Arvizu sent the letter below to the NMSU campus earlier today announcing that he has fired Head Basketball Coach Greg Heiar:

Heiar was placed on leave late last week, and the Aggies season was later cancelled, after serious allegations of hazing in the program had been brought to light. New Mexico State was already under the microscope after forward Mike Peake shot and killed a University of New Mexico student back in the fall. That incident is still under investigation.
