New Mexico’s Pitino, Ohio State’s Holtmann become latest coaches to miss games due to COVID

Two more D1 head coaches are missing games this weekend due to COVID protocols.

New Mexico’s Richard Pitino missed yesterday’s game vs Utah State. The Albuquerque Journal reported that Pitino took a COVID test independent of the team once he started feeling symptoms. He had been with the team as recently as Friday. Assistant coach Eric Brown served as the acting coach for the Lobos 90-87 loss last night.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Ohio State will be without coach Chris Holtmann and assistant coach Ryan Pedon for today’s Northwestern game due to health and safety protocols. Assistant Coach Tony Skinn will serve as the acting head coach.
