New Wake head coach Jeff Bdzelik has begun the process of hiring his staff. From what I’ve heard, he’s not taking anyone from his previous staff at Colorado with him. Current Wake assistants Jeff Battle and Rusty LaRue are expected to be retained. Also, Georgia operations coordinator Mark Pope is expected to join the staff.

The busy day continues in New England. Sounds like Steve Pikiell is close to signing an extension at Stony Brook. We were hearing that he was interested in the Holy Cross job but it looks like he will stay put and get a nice raise.

UNC-Wilmington update

The longest search in the history of searches is still going on. Not a ton to report – we know that Ed Conroy turned the job down in favor of Tulane and no high major assistants have expressed any interest. There was some type of discussion with Wofford’s Mike Young, but nothing seems to have

Bzdelik to Wake a done deal?

Bzdelik and Wake AD Ron Wellman are longtime friends – they worked together at Northwestern in the early 1980’s when Bzdelik was an assistant basketball coach and Wellman was the baseball coach. Also, Bzdelik’s youngest daughter attends
