UPDATE: Clemson makes it official – Brownell hired
Just wanted to pass along the official release from Clemson. I reported earlier today that our source was saying it was a done deal – it now officially is. Brad Brownell is the new coach at Clemson. Major begins assembling staff
New UNC-Charlotte head coach Alan Major has started putting his staff together. I’ve heard that Boston University associate head coach Orlando Vandross was on campus Sunday and that he and Major met with players Sunday night. Bzdelik to Wake a done deal?
Two of our better sources are confirming that Colorado Head Coach Jeff Bzdelik is headed to Wake Forest. Bzdelik and Wake AD Ron Wellman are longtime friends – they worked together at Northwestern in the early 1980’s when Bzdelik was an assistant basketball coach and Wellman was the baseball coach. According to multiple sources, Ohio State assistant Alan Major has accepted an offer to become the next Head Coach at UNC-Charlotte. Major has been an assistant to Thad Matta for the past 9 seasons (6 at Ohio State, 3 at Xavier). Expect an official announcement soon.

Herrion the choice at Marshall
Marshall has scheduled a 1:00 press conference for Saturday to introduce Tom Herrion as their new basketball coach. Herrion has been the Associate Head Coach at Pitt for the past three seasons. He does have previous head coaching experience serving as the head coach at The College of Charleston from 2002-2006 (80-38).

Cal Irvine hires Turner
Russell Turner has been named men’s basketball coach at UC Irvine. Turner has spent the past six seasons as an assistant at Golden State following stints as an assistant at Stanford and Wake Forest. He agreed to a five-year contract with an annual base salary of $205,000.
