Concordia College (MN) head coach Tyler Bormann announced that assistant coach Cade Niehaus has been promoted to Associate Head Coach.
“We’re thrilled to elevate Cade to the position of Associate Head Coach,” Bormann said. Cade’s impact on our program has been tremendous, and he is very deserving of this promotion on many levels. His fingerprints are all over Cobber Basketball. He has had a direct impact on the positive momentum that we’ve built in the program.”
Niehaus recently completed his third season as assistant coach for the Cobbers. During that time, he has helped Concordia earn back-to-back MIAC postseason appearances. It is the first time that the team has recorded consecutive postseason berths since 2015 and 2016.
“Coach Niehaus has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership with a deep understanding of Cobber men’s basketball,” Concordia Athletic Director Rachel Bergeson said. “Elevating him to Associate Head Coach is a recognition of his invaluable contributions to the program and the respect he has earned.”
Niehaus came to Concordia after serving as the graduate assistant at Division II MSU Moorhead in 2021-22.
“Cade’s commitment to our student athletes, along with his overall dedication and investment in our program, made this an easy decision as we look to the future of Cobber Basketball,” Bormann commented. “This promotion is a testament to his professionalism and commitment, and I look forward to continuing to work together with him to elevate Cobber Basketball to even greater heights in the future”.
Before joining the staff of the Dragons, Niehaus was the head student manager for Division I Northern Iowa from 2019-21. During his time with the Panthers, he assisted with video analysis, scouting and game day preparation.
Niehaus graduated from Northern Iowa in 2021 with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resource Management.
