North Idaho College men’s basketball has added James Jansen to its staff as Associate Head Coach.

Jansen brings extensive experience at both the junior college and NCAA Division II levels. Most recently, he served as Interim Head Coach at New Mexico Highlands University after spending two seasons as the Associate Head Coach at Fort Lewis College.

Prior to moving to the Division II level, Jansen spent two seasons as the head coach at Treasure Valley Community College. In 2023-24, he guided the Chukars to a 23-7 overall record and 13-1 conference mark, capturing the program’s first NWAC East Region regular-season championship in a decade. Jansen was named the NWAC East Region Coach of the Year following the season.

Jansen previously served as an assistant at the College of Idaho, helping the Yotes to a program-record 32 wins and an NAIA National Tournament Elite Eight appearance, and spent three seasons on staff at Simpson University.

Jansen now joins Head Coach Corey Symons and the Cardinals as North Idaho looks to continue its tradition as one of the premier junior college basketball programs in the Northwest.
