Northern Virginia Community College sent an email to to their student body today announcing their intention to leave the NJCAA and discontinue intercollegiate athletics.

This doesn’t come as a surprise, as last week they canceled the remainder of their men’s and women’s basketball seasons with two games plus the league tournament remaining.

With nearly 70,000 students, NOVA was currently supporting five sports (having already suspended softball and hockey). They had been competing at the NJCAA D2 level in Region 20.
