Steve Lavin is working on completing his staff at St. John’s. He has already hired Tony Chiles, and is close to hiring the rest of the spots. Those who are involved are:

Rico Hines – Played for Lavin at UCLA. Was an assistant for Golden State last season.

Mike Dunlap – Associate head coach at Oregon last season. May still be in the mix for the Oregon job and possibly Colorado. If he doesn’t get one of these, expect him to join Lavin.

Maurice Hicks – Head coach at Rice HS in NYC. Would join the staff as the Director of Basketball Operations.

Manhattan head coach Barry Rohrssen is close to adding former DePaul head coach Jerry Wainwright to his staff. The two became close after their trip to the Persian Gulf with "Operation Hardwood." This might not be the only staff change at Manhattan.

The two names that I keep hearing at Columbia are NJIT head coach Jim Engles (a former Columbia assistant) and University of New Orleans Head Coach Joe Pasternack. Pasternack is believed to have already interviewed.
