I mentioned this move in yesterday’s DAILY DIRT – it’s now official. Stony Brook has hired former Ohio GA Casey Crawford as their new Director of Basketball Operations. Here’s the official release from SBU:
Stony Brook University men’s basketball head coach Geno Ford announced the appointment of Casey Crawford to the coaching staff for 2024-25. Crawford will serve as the Director of Basketball Operations.
Crawford joins the Stony Brook staff after serving as a graduate assistant on Jeff Boal’s staff at Ohio University. In his role with the Bobcats, Crawford maintained NCAA compliant recruiting logs, aided the Director of Operations in meal and operations coordination and assisted with OHIO Basketball Camps.
Prior to serving as a graduate assistant on staff at Ohio, Crawford held the position of head student manager. He maintained and organized a group of 10 managers through day-to-day activities, assisted in the coordination of travel efforts and created managerial schedules for away games and events.
Crawford also serves as a director and board member of Grow The Game, in which he initiates contact with hundreds of student managers across the country, facilitates relationships with former managers for mentorship opportunities, organized and managed large, contact-based files shared amongst seven other board members.
Through coaching, Crawford has played a role in the development of players like Mark Sears, Jason Preston, Jason Carter, Dwight Wilson III and Ben Vander Plas.
Crawford earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2022 and a Master of Science in Recreation in 2024 from Ohio.
