Siena Basketball Head Coach Jimmy Patsos has announced the addition of Pete Durr as the Saints’ new director of basketball operations. The Deerfield, New York native matriculates to Siena College after spending the previous three years in a similar position at Colgate University.

“We’re excited to have Pete on board, he brings great experience to our staff,” said Patsos. “It’s great to have a Central New York guy and someone from the Under Armour family joining us. He has strong local ties from his time at Union, and comes from a solid basketball pedigree having played in high school for his father, Mike Durr, who was a longtime successful coach at Utica Notre Dame.”

Durr brings seven years of collegiate basketball experience with him to Loudonville, including four as an assistant coach, and three at the Division I level. At each of his first four stops which have all come in his home state of New York, Durr’s teams have increased their win total from the previous year in his first season on staff.

“I’m very excited to join a program with the great tradition that Siena has,” explained Durr. “I’m really looking forward to working with Coach Patsos. He’s a proven winner whose energy and passion to win is contagious. I can’t wait to get started working with the rest of the staff and student athletes to help build upon the success that this program has had.”

Durr previously served as the Colgate Director of Men’s Basketball Operations from 2014-17. His primary responsibilities included assisting in all areas of the program encompassing recruiting, scouting, practice and game preparation, in addition to serving as the team’s travel and video coordinator and director of summer camps, as well as performing other day-to-day office duties.

“I would like to thank Coach Langel and the rest of the Colgate coaching staff for giving me the opportunity to both learn and grow the past three seasons,” added Durr.

Durr spent the prior four seasons as an assistant coach at the Division III level with SUNYIT (2013-14), Union College (2011-13), and Utica College (2010-11). Durr was appointed interim head coach at Union in 2013, following a 20-win season in which the Dutchmen earned Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year honors.

A 2010 graduate of Keuka College with a B.S. in Education, Durr was a three-year starter for the Wolves and the only three-time team captain in program history. A 2009 All-North Eastern Athletic Conference Third Team selection, he appeared in 94 career games (67 starts) for Keuka, and currently ranks ninth in program history in both assists (218) and threes (114).

Durr joins a Siena Basketball program which is coming off its first MAAC Championship Game appearance in seven years. The Saints posted a 17-17 overall record, and tied for third in the MAAC with a 12-8 league mark.
