Following up on HoopDirt.com’s report from earlier today (NAIA DIRT). Simpson University has now released a statement on the resignation of head basketball coach Todd Franklin. Here’s the release:
Earlier this week Simpson University accepted the resignation of Head Men’s Basketball Coach Todd Franklin.
Coach Franklin took over the men’s basketball program six years ago ahead of the 2017-18 season after coming from Liberty Christian High School as a well-known coach and member of the Redding community.
In Franklin’s tenure, Simpson men’s basketball saw new heights making the Cal Pac Conference tournament every single season and knocking off NCAA DII opponents such as the University of Hawaii-Hilo and Notre Dame de Namur University.
In the 2021-22 season, Coach Franklin was named Cal Pac Coach of the Year after leading the Red Hawks to a 10-3 conference record.
Franklin also recruited and coached numerous top talents receiving awards such as Cal Pac Player of the Year, NAIA All-American Honorable Mention, All-Conference First Team, and Newcomer of the Year.
Simpson University will begin its national search for its next head coach immediately.
