OFFICIAL: Hemenway resigns at D3 Berea

Following-up on something that I first mentioned yesterday (D3 DIRT). The resignation of John Hemenway at D3 Berea College (KY) has now been made official. Here’s the release from the college:

John Hemenway has resigned as head coach of the Berea College men’s basketball program, Director of Athletics Ryan Hess announced.

“I am extremely grateful to Coach Hemenway for all he’s done to guide our men’s basketball program these past 12 years,” Hess said, “Through his recruitment efforts, we’ve been introduced to some tremendous young men and players who have become a part of our Berea College campus community, the Mountaineer athletic family, and the storied tradition of our men’s basketball program.  I certainly respect John’s decision to invest more fully in his family and wish him all the best as he pursues other personal ventures.”

Hemenway departs after 12 seasons where he earned 148 wins. During his tenure, Hemenway led the Mountaineers to three consecutive USCAA National Tournaments and advanced to the USCAA National Semi-Finals twice. Hemenway coached seven First Team All-American players, advanced to seven national tournaments, and was named Coach of the Year four times.

The search for the next head coach of Berea College men’s basketball will begin immediately.
