Cody Henson is officially out as the head basketball coach at NAIA Central Baptist College (AR) and has been replaced by Rashad Allen, who was an assistant coach with the program last season. Here’s the official statement from CBC:
Central Baptist College athletic director Lyle Middleton has announced a change in leadership of the men’s basketball program. Rashad Allen will take the reins of the program after the departure of Cody Henson.
“Success in college basketball is measured by more than wins and losses,” said Middleton. “Great coaches build strong relationships, develop talent and create a culture that inspires student athletes to succeed both on and off the floor. Rashad is the type of leader who understands that championships begin with preparation, discipline and accountability.”
Allen takes control of the program after serving as the head assistant coach for the varsity team the past two seasons and head coach of the junior varsity team last season. Last season, he assisted the Mustangs to a 13-15 record and an appearance in the American Midwest Conference tournament semifinals. In 2024-25, Coach Allen helped guide the Mustangs to a 27-6 record, including a 17-1 AMC record and a trip to the second round of the NAIA Tournament. He has coached two All-AMC first team selections, three all-AMC second team selections, one honorable mention selection, two all-defensive team selections, an all-freshman selection, a defensive player of the year (Jonas Carlisle) and a sixth man of the year (Brian Alexander).
“I’d like to express my gratitude to God, who has guided me throughout my life, for blessing me with this opportunity,” said Allen. “I also appreciate my family and friends, as well as AD Middleton, who believes in me and is giving me this chance. I’m thrilled and humbled to become the next head coach at Central Baptist College, a dream I have harbored since my days as a student-athlete. This place has become my home.”
Middleton added: “Every successful basketball program starts with a clear vision. Coach Allen emphasizes hard work, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence in every practice and every game. His philosophy is built around players trusting one another, competing with confidence, and representing their school with pride and integrity.
Beyond basketball, Coach Allen stresses the importance of academics, leadership, and character. He reminds his players that their success in the classroom and in the community is just as important as their performance on the court. By holding high standards in every area, he helps prepare student-athletes for success long after their playing careers have ended.

Allen played for the Mustangs from 2021-22 before graduating in December of 2022.
