The University of Pittsburgh Greensburg announced that Brody Jackson has resigned as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach. Jackson accepted as position as Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach at his alma mater Manchester High School in Akron, Ohio.
Jackson, who finished his fourth season as head coach, was named the 2019-20 AMCC Coach of the Year after guiding the Bobcats to a 20-6 overall record and a 16-4 mark in conference play. The Bobcats earned the #2 seed in the AMCC Tournament, which was their first postseason appearance since the 2015-16 campaign.
“I would like to thank Brody for all of his efforts and commitment to our men’s basketball program, our athletics department, and our institution,” remarked Pitt-Greensburg Director of Athletics Jeromy Yetter.” I have really enjoyed my time working with him and we wish him nothing but the best in the future.”
Following a 7-18 record in 2018-19, Jackson guided UPG to a 7-1 start to the season and a .769 winning percentage, which was its best since joining the NCAA in 1997. The team went 12-1 on their home court, which is the best home record in 14 years. Jackson guided the Blue and Gold to the second seed in the conference tournament, which is tied for the best seed that UPG has had since 2004-05.
Under Jackson’s tutelage, a total of three players earned All-Conference selections, including Matt Johnson, who earned a First Team selection, Cam Seigfreid, who garnered a Second Team Selection, and JoJo France, who was selected Third Team. Seigfreid became the 11th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 points for his career and France set the single-season three-point record, knocking down 81 three’s last season.
A National Search for Jackson’s Replacement will take place.
