Following-up on reports from earlier today…Pat Knight is officially out as the head basketball coach at NAIA Marian University (IN). The school has released the following statement:
Pat Knight has officially resigned as Marian’s head men’s basketball coach, effective immediately. Knight returned to coaching after a 10-year scouting run with the Indiana Pacers in 2024 and coached Marian for two seasons.
Knight spent seven total seasons as a collegiate head coach at both Texas Tech and Lamar University from 2007 to 2014 before joining Marian in May 2024. He made one NCAA Tournament appearance at Lamar University.
Pat Knight finished his Marian career with an overall record of 16-34 and went 7-23 in the Crossroads League.
Marian’s associate head coach Todd Howard will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
The university remains committed to the success and well-being of our student-athletes, who are our primary concern.
A national search for Marian’s next men’s basketball head coach will begin at the conclusion of the season.
