I blogged yesterday that I had heard Scott McMillin was out as the head coach at Lynn University (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/40bb5e9c/lynn-university-rumor/…). This has now been confirmed – Lynn has just released the following statement:
Lynn University Director of Athletics Dr. Kristen Migliano announced that Scott McMillin has stepped down as head men’s basketball coach, effective immediately. McMillin concluded his 10th season with the Fighting Knights, posting a 158-130 (.549) career record. A national search for the fourth head coach in school history will begin immediately.
“Lynn University is genuinely appreciative of the leadership, professionalism, dignity and pride Coach McMillin has led the Fighting Knights with for ten years and we support him in his next career endeavor,” said Migliano.
Joining the Blue & White prior to the 2003-04 season, McMillin led Lynn to the 2005 NCAA Division II National Semifinals in his second year along with Sunshine State Conference regular season and tournament titles. That same season, he set a program-record with 29 victories.
The Fighting Knights return nine letterwinners from a squad that went 11-17 overall and 3-13 in the SSC in 2012-13 and was eliminated by Tampa in the opening round of the conference tournament.
