Following up on something that I reported yesterday. NAIA Midland University (NE) has now released a statement on the change that they have made with their men’s basketball coach:
Midland University is conducting a national search for a new men’s basketball coach.
Former head coach Oliver Drake is no longer with the Warrior program. In seven seasons, Drake guided the Warriors to a 96-104 record, including a 16-14 mark this past season.
“We thank Coach Drake for his commitment to the Warrior men’s basketball program for the past seven years,” Courtney Thomsen, Midland University Director of Athletics, said.
The search to find Drake’s replacement will begin immediately. “We are excited to begin the process of a nationwide search to find the right individual to lead our program going forward,” Thomsen said. “We expect a strong pool of candidates and are looking forward to the process of helping the program continue to grow and thrive while enriching the student experience.”
Competing in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, the Warriors men’s basketball program has a rich history that includes six trips to the NAIA National Tournament, highlighted by a runner-up finish in 2014.
