I blogged earlier today that I had heard Scott Monarch was the choice at Claffin – it’s now official. Here’s the release:
Coach Scott Monarch is coming to Claflin from the University of Northern Colorado, and was an assistant at Marquette University 2008-2012, where he helped lead the Golden Eagles to four NCAA I appearances.
Coach Scott addressed the audience and gave a picture of where he saw Claflin University. He brings 22 years of experience in the coaching profession. He says that he will get in and recruit the best players in the country, because of his style of play. Coach Monarch stated,” that he needed players who will get it done both in the classroom and on the court, that same guy who misses class is the same guy that misses assignments on the floor. I will be demanding on them academically as well as physically, because we will utilize the whole floor all 94 feet, especially defensively with our full court pressure. And that means we will have to be in tremendous shape. For the kids we have here they must get in line academically, and if they are not in line we must get them in line. I do not believe we must wait until March to play well. My question is how good are we today? And I will start now in May and ask that question today and every day until we complete our season in March.”
