Following-up on something that I first reported earlier today. Tim Moser is no longer the head basketball coach at D2 UT Tyler. Here’s the official release from the school:
UT Tyler Head Men’s Basketball Coach Tim Moser has resigned from his role, concluding his three-season tenure leading the Patriots, the University announced on Monday.
“I want to thank Coach Moser for his service to UT Tyler Athletics and our Patriot student-athletes,” said Dr. Sam Ferguson, UT Tyler Director of Athletics and Interim Vice President of Student Affairs. “He not only steadily improved our program competitively, but he also enhanced the academic success of our program. He built a team especially strong in character. We are grateful for the solid foundation he leaves behind.”
UT Tyler’s Men’s Basketball Team finished the season 15-11 overall and 9-11 in the Lone Star Conference, their best LSC finish in program history. The Pats placed ninth in the league and ended the regular season one game out of the post-season tournament. The team went 26-56 in three seasons under Moser’s leadership.
Prior to taking on his head coaching role, Moser served two years as Assistant Coach of the UT Tyler Women’s Basketball team. His two-decade coaching career includes 19 years as a head coach of men’s and women’s programs.
UT Tyler will immediately launch a search for a new men’s basketball head coach to lead a competitive men’s basketball program and support the department’s vision of using intercollegiate athletics to mold student-athletes into champions; champions of character, champions in competition, and champions in their careers.
