Old Dominion University head men’s basketball coach Jeff Jones announced today that John Richardson and Lamar Barrett have been added to his coaching staff.
Lamar Barrett brings 14 years of coaching experience as he joins the ODU staff after three years as an assistant on Jones staff at American. He spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Brown University before joining the American staff. He coached three All-Ivy League selections with Brown and was primarily responsible for recruiting. At AU, Barrett served in multiple facets including skill development, recruiting and game-planning.
John Richardson rejoined the Monarch program as an assistant coach last year after two seasons at Virginia Tech. Richardson, the 2004 and 2005 Virginia High School Coaches Association AAA State Coach of the Year at Woodside High, went to Virginia Tech after spending the previous five seasons at Old Dominion University. At ODU, he was an assistant coach in 2009 and 2010 after serving as ODU’s first Director of Basketball Operations in his first three seasons.
