Drury Panthers men’s basketball head coach has named Alec O’Reilly as the team’s graduate assistant coach. The program added the position following the departure of assistant coach Sam Briscoe, who was recently named the head boys’ basketball coach at Kirkwood High School in the St. Louis area.
O’Reilly comes to Drury from Missouri State, where he served as the video and analytics coordinator on the men’s basketball coaching staff for the last four seasons under head coach Dana Ford. His role included film analysis and preparation, statistical analysis, game-planning preparation, alumni relations, summer camp director, equipment liaison, player development coordinator, and he cultivated player relationships.
He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2018 with a degree in Business Administration. While working on his undergraduate degree, he served the Razorbacks men’s basketball team as their analytics manager for three years.
“We are excited to welcome Alec to the Drury Basketball family,” said head coach Chris Foster. “Alec has worked and built his experience with some great coaches at both Arkansas and, most recently, Missouri State. He has a great mind for the game, and his experience with analytics will be a great resource for both our players and the coaching staff. His local ties will continue to help us prioritize recruiting local talent to Drury. Most importantly, Alec is a person of high character and values developing relationships with our players that will help them reach their potential both on and off the floor.”
A Springfield native, O’Reilly graduated from Springfield-Catholic High School and earned the team’s leadership award following his senior season.
