Pacheco Named Shepherd Men’s Basketball Assistant

Shepherd University head men’s basketball coach Justin Namolik announced today that Giancarlo Pacheco has been named assistant men’s basketball coach. Pacheco replaces Jason Boardley, who resigned to accept the director of basketball operations position at William and Mary.

Pacheco comes to Shepherd after serving as the associate head coach at Central Baptist College for the 2021-22 season. He helped lead the Mustangs to a 15-15 overall mark with a 10-6 record in conference play. He helped develop All-American Kelvin Robinson.

He previously served as the student manager for the George Mason University for three seasons. He aided the assistant coaches with practice, managed inventory, and oversaw video operations. He also served as head coach for the NOVA Cavaliers AAU team. His teams had six players recruited to play collegiate basketball.

Pacheco gained a bachelor’s degree in finance from George Mason in 2020. He also has an associate degree in business administration from Northern Virginia Community College.
