Pacific Union College Athletics is proud to announce that Greg Rahn has been named the head coach of the Pioneers Men’s Basketball program. During the 2013-2014 season Rahn was an Assistant Coach in charge of player skill development, strength and conditioning, recruiting and film exchange and breakdown.
"It was such an honor to be an assistant last year, and it is a blessing to have this opportunity to serve as the head coach for the men’s basketball program," commented Rahn. "Our mission will be to teach life lessons through basketball so we can prepare these student-athletes for the road ahead. Through hard work, dedication, and doing things the right way we will guide them to positions of success on and off the court."
Rahn began his coaching career leading travel and Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) teams. In 2011, he joined the coaching staff of Brea-Olinda High School in Brea, Calif., where he coached two years as Freshman Head Coach and assisted with the varsity program. His responsibilities included player skill development, scouting and film breakdown. During Rahn’s time at Brea-Olida, the Wildcat’s program made back-to-back CIF Southern Section Semi-finals, the furthest the program had been led to in over a decade.
Rahn is a Certified Ganon Baker Elite Basketballs Skills Trainer and has trained players of all ages, including ESPNU Top 100 and professional players competing on international teams. He also works for the Golden State Warriors as a youth camp coach and skills trainer.
Rahn is a graduate of Vintage High School in Napa, Calif., and attended Napa Valley College before graduating with his B.S. in business marketing from California State University, Fullerton, in 2008. After taking his first year in college off from basketball, Rahn made the NVC men’s basketball team in his sophomore year before transferring to CSU Fullerton, where season-ending injuries during training for the CSUF men’s basketball program kept him from continuing to play at the college level. In 2012, Rahn played basketball semi-professionally for the Orange County Novastars, part of the American Basketball Association.
