Paine College men’s head basketball coach Jimmy Link has hired two new assistant coaches this season to round out the three person staff.
Joining Link on the sidelines this season will be Tito Arias and Paine College alumni Chase Campbell. Both bring a unique set of complimentary experiences to Paine as the team looks ahead to the coming season.
Arias enters Paine after having successful assistant coaching positions at the College of Central Florida and the University of Maine at Machias. The Miami native earned a B.S. in recreation and tourism management from the University of Maine at Machias where he also played basketball before becoming a coach. Arias played from 2005-2007 at his alma mater after transferring from Miami-Dade College where he played from 2003-2004.
As an assistant under Tim Ryan from 2008-2013 at the College of Central Florida, Arias helped coach the team to the their eighth consecutive trip to the Region VIII tournament where they claimed the region title before going on to win the 2013 NJCAA National Championship.
Campbell is returning to his alma mater after having graduated from Paine College in 2012. As a Lion, Campbell played point guard, shooting guard and small and power forward after transferring to Paine following two years at Itawamba Community College. The Jackson, Tenn., native recently spent time as an assistant coach at Newberry College where some of his main responsibilities included managing the offense and handling recruiting. Under Campbell, Newberry was ranked No. 4 in scoring.
From 2009-20012, Campbell also spent time as a head coach with Team Power and the Southern Kings through the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). Through those experiences he has learned the importance of adjusting his coaching style to fit the individuals and the team that he is working with. In addition to basketball, Campbell enjoys spending time with his son, Chase Campbell II, and his supportive girlfriend, Emily Harrison.
