– The North Dakota men’s basketball program has named Bentiu Panoam, who played four years as a guard on the team from 2018-22, as the new Director of Operations.
“We are excited about Bentiu joining our staff,” said UND men’s basketball head coach Paul Sather. “Having coached him for three years, he is very familiar with our program, the university, and the community of Grand Forks. His academic background along with his experience as a student athlete at UND made him a perfect fit as our new Director of Basketball Operations. We couldn’t be more excited for him to return.”
Panoam joined the Hawks as a player in the fall of 2018, following his first college season at Northwest Kansas Tech. During his career with UND, he made 52 starts in 84 appearances, including 43 straight starts to end his career. He averaged 5.9 points per game, 1.9 rebounds per game and 1.2 assists per game over his four seasons with a .409 shooting percentage from the floor and .370 from downtown.
The Anchorage, Alaska, native established himself in a starting role during the 2020-21 season, helping the Fighting Hawks reach the quarterfinals of the Summit League Tournament by finishing second on the team with 9.4 points per game, including a pair of 20-point outings in wins over South Dakota.
