Two reports today indicate that a pair of coaches whose futures had been uncertain are now expected to return for another season. Lamont Paris at University of South Carolina and Dwayne Killings at University at Albany both appear set to return for another year.
Lamont Paris
South Carolina men’s basketball coach Lamont Paris is set to return to the Gamecocks in 2026-2027, per a report from the Post and Courier’s David Cloninger.
JC Shurburtt added the following:
Paris is 62-67 (.481) in four seasons with the Gamecocks – 13-18 (4-14 SEC) this year. They face Oklahoma in the SEC Tournament tomorrow night.
Dwayne Killings
According to a report from the Times Union, Albany AD Mark Benson confirmed that head basketball coach Dwayne Killings actually signed a one year extension last off season, and will return to coach the final season of that contract. Most had believed his contract was expiring, as the extension was never publicaly announced.
After a 17 win campaign in 2024-25, the Great Danes fell to 11-21 (7-9 AE) this year. In his five seasons at Albany, Killings has compiled a 62-97 (.390) record.
