Pearl River head men’s basketball coach Chris Oney has announced the hiring of Dee Wallace as his new assistant for the 2019-20 season.

Wallace replaces Chris Woodall who was recently hired by Jackson State University.

“I think Dee will be a great fit here,” Oney said. “He’s worked for some really good coaches like Rod Barnes. I also think him being from the state of Mississippi and having a connection to a great high school program like Oxford is going to be vital for us. Not to mention he has Division I experience, which always helps.”

Wallace cited his familiarity with Oney as a key reason why he thinks PRCC is a good fit.

“I’ve known coach Oney since I was a kid,” Wallace said. “He’s a great coach. Him and coach Barnes share a lot similarities. They’re both winners.”

Wallace comes to PRCC after one year coaching at Adams State in Colorado as an assistant, helping lead the Grizzlies to the RMAC Conference tournament.

Prior to that Wallace spent a year at Cal State Bakersfield as the Director of Player Development under Barnes.

Wallace began his coaching career as graduate assistant at California State University Monterey Bay.

Wallace played his freshman year at the University of Nebraska-Omaha before transferring to Cal State Bakersfield.

He was Inducted into the Roadrunner Society Hall of Fame as well as the CSUB Golden Circle Hall of Fame.

Wallace graduated from Oxford High School in 2010 where he played basketball and was a First Team All-District and First Team All-Area selection his senior year.
