After a long, drawn out search, Appalachian State is prepared to name Buzz Peterson as it’s new head basketball coach. Peterson has spent the last two years as the director of player personnel for the Charlotte Bobcats. He turned down ASU’s offer earlier in the month, but now has apparently changed his mind and decided to return to the place where he got his first experience as a head coach. Peterson coached the Mounaineers from 1996-2000 and compiled a 79-39 record. He has also served as the head coach at Tulsa, Tennessee, and Coastal Carolina.

The official announcement is expected Wednesday morning.
