The hottest internet rumor over the past 24 hours is that Rick Pitino may have some interest in the Sacramento Kings job. Several sources have reported that the Maloof Brothers would be very interested in bringing Coach Pitino on board, and one member of the family may have already spoken to Pitino. All sides are denying the rumors,but it is interesting. Personally, I don’t see it happening. Pitino has really gotten it going at Louisville – he is 200-73 in his 8 seasons, and did not have great success during his previous stints in the NBA. In 6 seasons as an NBA head coach, his record is 192-220 and missed the play-offs all 4 years in Boston. His style is much better suited for the college game – college guys respond when you get in them – the NBA guys can tell you to go screw! My money is on Eddie Jordan getting the Kings job, but the Pitino rumor makes this an intriguing search to watch.
