After an extensive interview process, Portland Community College is proud to announce the hiring of Brendan Ritschard as the new Head Coach of Panther Men’s Basketball.
Coach Ritschard is a former PCC student-athlete who, as the starting point guard, led the 2017–18 Panthers to an impressive 26–6 record and a berth in the NWAC Final Four. Following his time at PCC, he continued his playing career at George Fox University, where he earned both his Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance and his Master of Arts in Teaching.
“I’m very excited to welcome Coach Ritschard as our new coach,” said Athletic Director Tony Broadous. “He began his journey here as a student-athlete and excelled both in the classroom and on the court. As a pass-first point guard, he consistently elevated his teammates and played a key role in some of the biggest wins in PCC history. He has also done an outstanding job as an assistant coach – initially with me, and over the past three years under Coach Mitchell. Brendan brings strong leadership, a clear vision, and the preparation needed to take our program to the next level.”
The Panther men have enjoyed a very successful three-year stretch with Ritschard as assistant coach, posting a 60-17 overall record and claiming two NWAC South Region titles.
