Portland State elevates Dunn to Associate Head Coach

Portland State Men’s Basketball has promoted Assistant Coach Matt Dunn to the role of Associate Head Coach.

Viking Head Coach Jase Coburn made the announcement that Dunn, his top assistant, has been elevated to the AHC title. Dunn begins his third year in the Viking program and has been in collegiate coaching for 15 seasons.

Dunn has worked primarily with the development of Portland State’s inside players and has had a key role in offensive game planning during his first two seasons.

“Matt has done an outstanding job since he has been here. He is more than deserving of the promotion,” said Coburn. “Matt is one of the hardest workers I have ever been around, has been a great recruiter and on-floor coach and really cares about our players as people. I have never met anyone who loves coaching basketball more than him.”

Dunn worked previously at IUPUI (three seasons), Northern Arizona (six seasons) and Memphis (three seasons) at the Division I level. He has also coached at the junior college, high school and AAU levels.

Dunn is a graduate of Fort Hays State (2007) and has a Master’s Degree from Concordia University-Irvine (2020).
