HoopDirt.com has learned that Prairie View A&M head coach Byron Smith will hire Derrick Daniels as an assistant coach. Daniels was most recently the director of basketball operations at UT Arlington. He had also spent six seasons as an assistant at UT Arlington before heading to the HS ranks, and eventually returning to Scott Cross’ staff in an administrative role in 2013. Daniels, the 1988 Gatorade Circle of Champions Texas basketball Player of the Year, played collegiately at the University of Houston. An official announcement is expected shortly.
