Pratt CC hires Watson as Assistant Basketball Coach

Pratt Community College has hired Chisom Udensi Watson as the new assistant basketball coach for the Men’s Program. Coach Watson is very familiar with the JUCO world from his time playing at Wentchee Valley College and Parkland Community College. He followed up his JUCO career with two years at Bethel College, where he earned a Psychology degree.

Following his playing career, Chisom was able to coach for one year at Bethel and then did a second year at Central Washington University. During this time, he was able to earn a Master’s degree in Sports and Athletic Administration.

When asked about the opportunity he has at Pratt, he said: “I’m exhilarated to join the coaching staff here at Pratt CC. Having the privilege to coach with [Head Coach Kenny Eddy] is an experience I’m looking forward to having. His passion for this program and commitment to this community is unmatched. I believe we have the ability to put the Jayhawk conference on notice and I’m glad he chose me to partake in this journey. His integrity and honesty as a human is hard to come by in this profession and that made the decision easy for me. So I’m grateful and excited!”

Coach Eddy expressed his excitement about his new hire: “We are happy and thrilled to have him joining the staff. We believe that his experience at a variety of different levels will be very valuable to us, especially his time in the JUCO ranks. That will give him a unique ability to connect with the players. It also equips him to help motivate and guide these young men as they continue on their playing/life journeys. [Coach Watson] has developed a great network across the country during both his playing and coaching careers.” Last, but not least among the positive things that coach Eddy had to say was about the energy and excitement that his new assistant brings.

Coach Watson had some additional thoughts to share with Beaver Fans: “Beaver Nation, I hope you guys welcome me with open arms! My goal is to not only develop great athletes but prepare these young men for life. We are going to compete with heart and the effort our guys display will never be questioned. I am looking forward to having you guys pack out the dome! Go Beavers!”

The PCC athletic department is very excited for the energy and dedication that Coach Watson will bring to the program. Our Men’s Basketball coaching staff is planning to have a very competitive team this year. In the words of Coach Watson’s grandmother, “Where there is a will, there is a way,” and we expect our team to find their way!
