Pritzl promoted to General Manager and Assistant Basketball Coach at Toledo

University of Toledo men’s basketball assistant coach Brandon Pritzl will now serve as the program’s general manager in addition to continuing in his role as assistant coach, Head Basketball Coach Tod Kowalczyk announced on Tuesday.

Brandon Pritzl has been a tremendous asset for our program since we hired him three years ago,” Kowalczyk said. “He has an exceptional basketball mind and is highly intelligent as well as extremely motivated to help Toledo basketball be successful in any way possible. In the ever-changing world of revenue sharing, I think having a general manager on staff is important. It’s a big plus for us that we can have someone as qualified and as intelligent as Brandon is in that role for our program.”

A De Pere, Wis. native, Pritzl joined the Rockets’ staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2023-24 campaign. Seven different Rockets have earned all-conference accolades during Pritzl’s tenure, with Leroy Bylden Jr. receiving Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year honors this past season.

“I am extremely grateful to Coach Kowalczyk for this incredible opportunity and for the trust he has placed in me,” Pritzl said. “He has built a program that continues to gain momentum and set a high standard for excellence. I am truly honored to step into this role and contribute to the continued growth of Rocket Men’s Basketball and the University of Toledo.”

Pritzl has helped the Rockets continue their run as one of the top programs in the Mid-American Conference. Toledo captured its fourth consecutive Mid-American Conference title in the 2023-24 campaign. In the 2025-26 campaign, UT registered its sixth consecutive Top Four finish in the MAC before dropping a 79-76 decision to Akron at the buzzer in the MAC Championship Game.
