His distinctive career path and dedication to not only playing the game but developing players are directly in line with the college’s athletic mission to develop holistic student-athletes that dominate inside of the classroom and on the court.
“We are excited and blessed to have Coach Purifoy as a member of our staff and the Talladega Community. Having won a championship at the high school, collegiate, and professional level is a huge benefit to our program and players. Coach Purifoy knows how to win, but also how to build a winning program”, said Dannton Jackson, head men’s basketball coach/ assistant athletic director.
Purifoy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2014. While at UAB, Purifoy was a part of the 2011 team that won a Conference-USA regular season championship and appeared in the 2011 NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship Tournament.
He recently worked as the head coach of the Wisconsin Glo semi-professional women’s basketball team. Prior to coaching, Purifoy played basketball professionally for 8 years in Europe, with stops in Slovakia (2014-2015), Luxembourg (2015), Sweden (2016-2018), Czech Republic (2018-2019), Portugal (2019-2020), Spain (2020-2021) and Germany (2021-2022). During his time as a player Purifoy has received numerous awards, All- Germany Honorable Mention (2022), Portuguese Cup Champions (2019), All-Slovakia Honorable Mention (2015) Arkansas 7A state basketball champion and MVP (2010), and Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year (2010).
Coach Purifoy is the founder of the “I Got Next” basketball training camp where the focus is to create personalized training plans for players and organize/provide group training.
