Queens University of Charlotte head men’s basketball coach Bart Lundy is pleased to announce the addition of Grant Leonard to his staff. Leonard will serve as an assistant coach after most recently serving in the roll at Paine College.
"I am excited to announce that Grant Leonard will be joining our coaching staff here at Queens University of Charlotte," said Coach Lundy. "Coach Leonard brings a wealth of experience to our staff. He has tremendous personal values and work ethic. His purpose as a collegiate coach is parallel with the mission of our university."
Leonard comes to Queens with an abundance of coaching experience having coached at Washington College, the University of Texas-Pan American and Flagler College. During his last stop at Paine, Leonard helped the Lions record their first winning season in seven years notching a 16-13 conference record during the 2011-12 season.
Coach Lundy added, "Grant is a tireless advocate for the student-athlete who has made his name in the profession as a tremendous recruiter and a coach who helps develop the student-athlete not only on the court but in all phases of their lives. Rarely do you find a coach with his skill set and work ethic in one package. The University and especially the men’s basketball program will benefit greatly from Coach Leonard’s addition to the staff."
The new assistant coach’s responsibilities have stretched across a multitude of duties including recruiting coordinator, director of skill development, defensive specialist, head of strength and conditioning, team travel, scouting and film exchange.
"I am ecstatic to be at Queens and thankful that Coach Lundy and the administration have given me this opportunity," said Leonard. "I truly feel that Queens basketball has an opportunity to win a national championship and I look forward to being a part of championship caliber teams."
A talented player in his own right, Leonard graduated as a two-time Daktronics Academic All-Region Player as well as a two-time Midwest Classic Academic All-Conference Player. He graduated Cum Laude from William Penn University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
