Radford Names Kevin Jones Assistant Director of Men’s Basketball Operations

Kevin Jones has joined the Radford men’s basketball staff as Assistant Director of Basketball Operations and Video Coordinator, head coach Mike Jones announced.

“I’m extremely thankful for Coach Jones welcoming me into his program and to Radford University,” said Kevin Jones. “He is someone I have a great deal of respect for as a coach and even more so as an individual. I look forward to contributing to these young men’s lives and continuing the current success he and his staff have already constructed.”

In his new role with the Highlanders, Kevin Jones will oversee all things video and technology, aid in player development through video study, manage video edits and highlights and assist with maintaining a recruiting database.

“Kevin fits great with our staff and team because he is a high character person, who doesn’t mind working hard for something,” said Mike Jones. “He has a great track record as an assistant at a couple of good programs, and we are very fortunate that someone with his qualifications was available so late in the process.”

Kevin Jones, who is not related to Mike Jones or redshirt sophomore guard Carlik Jones, comes to Radford from Norfolk State where he was an assistant coach from 2015-2018. He helped guide the Spartans to back-to-back second-place finishes in the MEAC and coached three All-MEAC guards.

Jones played an important role in scouting, recruiting and game preparation while also serving as the program’s Community Service Outreach Coordinator and the Head Academic Liaison.

He has also built up his collegiate basketball resume at Coppin State, where he was an assistant coach in 2014-15. There, Jones coached the guards while helping with recruiting, scouting, compliance and more. Prior to his time at CSU, Jones spent two seasons as an assistant varsity coach at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore. He also coached at the AAU level for six years from 2009-14.

Jones graduated from Bowie State University in Maryland with a degree in Sociology in 2000.
