Alabama and head men’s basketball coach Avery Johnson are negotiating a buyout according to a report by AL.com.
The Crimson Tide finished the 2018-19 season with an 18-16 (8-10 SEC) record, and were upset on Wednesday night in the NIT by Norfolk State.
Johnson has a 75-62 record over his four seasons at Alabama. He earned a reported $3.062m this past season.
According to the AL.com report, “Johnson’s contract was extended in August 2017 to run through the 2022-23 season. It included an $8 million buyout if Johnson was dismissed before April 15, 2019. It drops to $6 million after that.”
