REPORT: Cincinnati’s Miller will return next season

Cincinnati AD John Cunningham told The Enquirer that Wes Miller will return as the Bearcats head basketball coach next season.

“Wes Miller will be our coach next year,” Cunningham said in his first public comments this season about the state of the basketball program under Miller. “I believe in Wes, and I trust him to get this program back to where it’s supposed to be – in the NCAA Tournament, competing for championships. That’s the standard. We are in constant communication. There are still games left this season, and I expect us to continue to fight.”

According to The Enquirer, the Bearcats were booed by their own fans at Fifth Third Arena following their “lethargic” 54-49 loss to K-State on Wednesday.

Cincinnati has struggled in the Big 12 this season – they currently sit tied for 12th in the conference with a 7-12 record (17-13 overall). Miller has gone 80-56 (.588) in his nearly 4 full seasons with the Bearcats, including winning 20+ games in each of the last two seasons. Cincinnati has yet to appear in the NCAA Tournament under Miller.
