According to a Jon Rothstein report, Coastal Carolina intends to name Western Carolina’s Justin Gray as their new head men’s basketball coach.
Gray’s Catamounts, who went 20-11 (11-7), wrapped up their season yesterday with a 79-76 OT loss in the SoCon Tournament to Furman. During Gray’s three years at WCU, their win total improved from 11 to 18 to 20 and he compiled a 51-47 (.520) record.
A three-time All-ACC selection in his playing career at Wake Forest, Gray also served as an assistant on Pat Kelsey’s staff at Winthrop, and as the Director of Basketball Development within the Deacon Club at Wake. Following his playing days for the Deacon Demons, he had a 12-year professional playing career overseas.
Western Carolina would be the third job to open so far today, as William & Mary and Missouri State both made changes.
More on this when it becomes official.
