According to a report from The Herald-Dispatch, Marshall head coach Dan D’Antoni will return for his 9th season in 2022-23.

The 74-year old D’Antoni and new AD Christian Spears, who officially started on Monday, met today. According to The Herald-Dispatch, the expiring contract will be extended for a year under the same terms, and then D’Antoni and Spears will work out a “series of contracts.”

D’Antoni has gone 140-120 (.538) during his time as the head coach at Marshall. This year, the Thundering Herd went 12-21 (4-14 C-USA), which marked only the second losing season during D’Antoni’s tenure.

An official announcement is expected later this afternoon.
