Hubert Davis will replace Roy Williams as the head men’s basketball coach at the University of North Carolina, according to multiple reports, including one from the The News & Observer.

The 50-year old Davis played for Dean Smith at UNC from 1988-92, and has been on Roy Williams staff for the past nine seasons. Following his graduation from North Carolina, he spent 12-seasons in the NBA, and worked for ESPN as a college basketball analyst after retiring.

The North Carolina Board of Trustees is meeting this afternoon (3pm) to approve the contract.
