According to an ESPN report, Louisville head coach Rick Pitino has told members of his coaching staff that he expects to lose his job over allegations that the Cardinals basketball program is involved in a federal investigation into fraud and corruption in college basketball recruiting. ESPN’s Michael Eaves quotes a source as saying Pitino “knows it’s coming.”
Pitino has already been suspended for the first five ACC games of the 2017-18 season after an investigation into the Cardinals use of escorts on recruiting visits. In yesterday’s release of information by the Attorney General’s office, evidence was presented that a Louisville assistant coach had planned to send $100,000 to the father of an All-American recruit.
Also, it now sounds like Louisville Athletic Director Tim Jurich has been fired by the University. Louisville has will hold a 1:oo pm press conference to address this situation.
