REPORT: Manning expects to return to Wake Forest next season

According to a report today in the Winston-Salem Journal, Danny Manning expects to return as the head basketball coach at Wake Forest next season.

According to the report, Wake AD John Currie is still reviewing the program, but Manning added, “I expect to be back and that’s my mindset. Not only me but my staff, we’re moving forward on getting prepared for the upcoming season through this tough and challenging situation.”

In his six seasons as the Deamon Deacons head coach, Manning has gone 78-111 (30-80 ACC, including a 13-18 (6-14) mark this past season. Wake has not finished higher than 10th in the ACC during Manning’s tenure.

Manning’s current contract runs through the 2024-25 season, and reportedly has a large buyout attached to it.
