REPORT: Northern New Mexico Head Coach placed on leave

According to a report by the Santa Fe New Mexican, Northern New Mexico College (NAIA) head men’s basketball coach and AD Ryan Cordova has been placed on paid administrative leave.

NNMC interim president Barbara M. Medina confirmed the disciplinary action to the New Mexican, but declined to elaborate on the matter, saying it was a personnel issue. Medina has assumed the role of interim AD, while current assistant basketball coach Jesus Argon has been elevated to interim head coach.

Also, according to the report, “Cordova has been ordered not to discuss the matter with anyone outside the college’s administration and was ordered not to have any contact with his players, staff or anyone affiliated with the school. To date, he has not been a part of a single practice, workout or offseason program since the second week of September.”

Cordova is in his 13th year at NNMC. He also served as an assistant coach at D2 Ft. Lewis College (on both the men’s and women’s sides), and worked with the New Mexico Slam (IBL).
