According to a report by WBKO.com, former UNC standout Shammond Williams will join the Western Kentucky staff as an assistant coach. Williams, who played in three Final Fours while at UNC, was a second round pick in the 1998 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. He then went on to play in the NBA and overseas before retiring in 2011. He had served as an assistant coach at Tulane since 2013, but was not retained on new head coach Mike Dunleavy’s staff. The official announcement is expected this week.
