After knocking off 1 seed Purdue in the NCAA tourney, then taking FAU to the wire, Fairleigh Dickinson head coach Tobin Anderson appears headed to Iona. According to a Jon Rothstein tweet, Anderson has informed his team that he is taking the Gael’s job.
Anderson led FDU to a 21-6 record in his only season at the school (FDU went 4-22 in 2021-22 before hiring Anderson). Prior to his time with the Knights, Anderson spent 12-seasons as the head coach at D2 St. Thomas Aquinas College (NY), where he went 209-62 (.771).
The coaching veteran has also been the head coach at D3’s Clarkson and Hamilton, and an assistant at Siena. His overall record in 22 seasons as a head coach is 415-207 (.667).
Anderson would replace Rick Pitino, who departed for St. John’s yesterday.
More on this one when it becomes official.
