North Carolina is expected to hire former Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone as its next head coach, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Malone spent 10 seasons leading the Nuggets, highlighted by the franchise’s first NBA Championship in 2023. He was let go last April and later joined ESPN as an analyst.

He would replace Hubert Davis, who was dismissed last month following UNC’s first-round NCAA Tournament loss to VCU.
