According to multiple reports, including one from Jeff Borzello, Vanderbilt will hire James Madison’s Mark Byington as their new head basketball coach. He would replace Jerry Stackhouse who was fired earlier this month.
Byington led JMU to a 32-4 (15-3) record this season and captured the Sun Belt Conference Championship. The Dukes advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament before being eliminated by Duke last night.
Byington has also served as the head coach at Georgia Southern (220-137) and worked as an assistant at Virginia and Charleston.
More on this once it becomes official.
